Apple Health and Health Connect in Boostcamp
Save workouts to Apple Health or Health Connect and keep bodyweight in sync both ways.
How does Boostcamp work with Apple Health and Health Connect?
Boostcamp connects to Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android. Each completed workout is saved as a strength training session with its date and duration, and bodyweight can sync in either direction. Each option has its own switch in Settings. The integration is free.

What syncs, and how
- 1
Connect in Settings
Connect Apple Health or Health Connect and turn on Enable syncing, then choose what to sync. Each option has its own switch, and you can turn any of them off or disconnect at any time.
- 2
Workouts are saved when you finish
With "Sync workouts" on, each completed workout is saved as a strength training session with its date and duration.
- 3
Bodyweight syncs both ways
"Sync weight" sends weight you log in Boostcamp to Health. "Import weight" brings weight recorded in Health, for example by a smart scale's app, into Boostcamp's Bodyweight Tracker. Use one or both. Weight syncs when you open the app.

Re-authorize if a permission is removed
If you turn off a Boostcamp permission in the phone's system settings, the matching switch in Boostcamp shows a Re-authorize button so you can grant it again.
What are Apple Health and Health Connect, and why sync a workout app?
Apple Health and Health Connect are central stores for health and fitness data on a phone: Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. Apps can write data into the store and read data from it, but only the types the user has given each app permission for.
The point of a central store is that apps don't need to connect to each other directly. A smart scale's app can write a weigh-in to Apple Health or Health Connect, and any other app the user allows can read that weight. A workout logged in one app can show up alongside steps, sleep and other activity recorded elsewhere.
For lifters, syncing usually means less double entry and a more complete picture. Bodyweight measured on a connected scale doesn't have to be typed into the training log by hand, and strength sessions appear next to other activity in the phone's health app. The user stays in control: each permission can be turned off in the system settings at any time.
Boostcamp uses Apple Health and Health Connect for two things only: saving completed workouts and syncing bodyweight, each with its own switch.
Example: one day of data with every switch on
Assumes an iPhone with Enable syncing, Sync workouts, Sync weight and Import weight all on, and a smart scale whose own app writes weigh-ins to Apple Health. Health Connect on Android works the same way.
| Event | Path | What arrives |
|---|---|---|
| 7:00 am: you step on a smart scale (182.4 lb) | Scale app → Apple Health → Boostcamp | 182.4 lb appears in Boostcamp's Bodyweight Tracker the next time you open the app |
| You log bodyweight by hand in Boostcamp | Boostcamp → Apple Health | A weight entry in Apple Health |
| 6:00 to 7:05 pm: you finish a Boostcamp workout | Boostcamp → Apple Health | A Strength Training session dated that day, lasting 65 minutes |
| Sets, reps, weights and RPE from that workout | Stay in Boostcamp | Nothing; Health receives the session, not the exercise details |
| Heart rate or calories from another device | Not read by Boostcamp | Nothing; Boostcamp doesn't read or record heart rate or calories |
What Boostcamp syncs
| Data | Direction |
|---|---|
| Completed workouts | Boostcamp → Health, as strength training with date and duration |
| Bodyweight | Both directions, each with its own switch |
| Heart rate, calories, body fat | Not synced |
Tips for using Apple Health and Health Connect
- Pick one place to log bodyweight If a smart scale already writes to Health, turn on Import weight and skip typing weight into Boostcamp. If you log weight by hand in Boostcamp, Sync weight sends it to Health for your other apps.
- Open Boostcamp after weighing in Bodyweight syncs when you open the app, so opening Boostcamp after a morning weigh-in brings the new entry into the Bodyweight Tracker.
- Turn on only what you need Each option has its own switch. If you only want workouts in Apple Health or Health Connect for an activity overview, leave the weight switches off.
- Record heart rate with a separate app Boostcamp doesn't track heart rate, so if you want it, record it with your watch's own workout app while you log sets in Boostcamp.
What the integration doesn't do
Boostcamp doesn't read or record heart rate or calories, doesn't sync body fat, and doesn't import workouts logged in other apps; only bodyweight comes in from Health. Boostcamp doesn't have an Apple Watch app yet. On iPhone, a Live Activity shows your current exercise, set and rest countdown on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.
